Alejandro Pazos Sierra and Cristian R. Munteanu (members of the RNASA-IMEDIR group at UDC), together with an international group of programmers, XLandC, and the Galician Research Network on Colorectal Cancer (REGICC), have developed a mobile application with Artificial Intelligence for the detection of colon polyps in colonoscopy images.
This application, called Polyp Detector, can be downloaded from Google Play and is an implementation of a Deep Learning model in TensorFlow Lite format, programmed in Flutter (Google tools). In addition to being free and ad-free, this application does not send data to any server, with all predictions performed directly on the device, thus maintaining user privacy. Regarding predictions, the application achieves an accuracy of over 93%.
