Since September 1, 2024, Ana Ribas Rodríguez has been conducting a three-month research stay at the University of Miami, where she will work alongside the renowned professor Odelia Schwartz, an expert in computer science.
Odelia Schwartz, whose career spans neuroscience and machine learning, specializes in developing computational models to understand how the human brain interprets visual scenes, which directly influences perception and cognition. Her work has been funded by prestigious institutions such as the NSF, NIH, and the U.S. Army Research Office.
During her stay, Ana Ribas will collaborate with Odelia Schwartz on an innovative project focused on modeling Deep Learning Neural Networks (DL). The goal is to integrate artificial astrocytes into these systems to develop more biologically realistic learning models, which could lead to more powerful and efficient neural networks. This collaboration promises significant advancements in the field of artificial intelligence and neuroscience, combining the expertise of both researchers in a project with great international potential.
